Edgar Allen PoeEdgar Allen Poes life was bombarded with misery, financial problems,and death but he still managed to become a world-renowned writer.Although he attended the most honored of schools he was oftenlooked over as a writer and poet during his career. His stories were left over(p) and misunderstood during their time. However, now they are loved aread by millions.On January 19, 1809 Edgar Allan Poe was born in Boston, Massachusettsat a inhabit house. His parents David and Elizabeth Poe wereprofessional actors who toured with a theatrical company. On declination8, 1811 his mother died of terbium in Richmond, Virginia(Introduction). In July of 1810 Edgars father vanished and it isspeculated that he may have died December 11, 1811 in Norfolk,Virginia, just three days after his mothers death, but on that point is norecord of this. In Richmond, Edgar was now taken into the home of the triple-crown tobacco merchant, John Allan (Introduction). Edgar wasnever officially adopted b ut his comfort parents acquired Allan intohis name. In 1815 the Allans moved to Liverpool, England aboard theLothair. plot of ground there, Edgar was sent to the finest schools, taughtevery veracious accomplishment and brought up with the habits of elegantsociety (Introduction).In February of 1826 Poe entered the prestigious University ofVirginia. While there, Edgar studied ancient and modern languages andreceived honors in both subjects. Poe curtly became corrupted by hispeers and learned to drink and gamble. He acquired enormous frolicdebts that he could not invent and was forced to leave the University ofVirginia since John Allan refused to pay his tuition over the gamblingdebts.
